Incorporated 1880 in Connecticut, the company operated a gold mine in the Monarch District, Chaffee County, Colorado. The Monarch Mine, on the mountain which bears its name, was located in July of 1878. The host rock was limestone with ore averaging $75 per ton. Gold ore was hauled in Burro-powered cars on tracks.
