Merchants Warehouse Company stock certificate 1889 (Kansas City MO)

Rare stock collectible. Elaborate printing of the company name and a nice vignette of the company storage facilities to the left. Issued and not cancelled. Dated 1889. Have not seen this piece before.

Incorporated 1886, the business operated grain warehousing facilities for several railroads to carry to Minneapolis and other major milling centers for flour. Working with the Union Pacific, cold storage buildings were developed. The company became the Missouri Valley Cold Storage Company in 1914. The company was successful in freezing and distributing fruits and vegetables year round. It supplied and provided storage for local restaurants and hotels.
