La Compania Edison Hispano Americana stock certificate circa 1907

Rare Edison company piece with a nice vignette of the New Jersey state seal.  Unissued and not cancelled.  Circa 1907 from company records.

Incorporated in Orange NJ in 1907, this Edison company was an attempt towards international business of the Edison power companies.  La Compania Edison Hispano-Americana, an Edison subsidiary in Argentina, also operated in other South American countries for city electrification.  The company's first project was in Buenos Aires to provide electricity and lighting for this metropolis.  Although having done well in the project, the Edison companies were much more successful in the United States in establishing and running lighting companies.
