First National Bank raised funds and constructed its new building in the Pioneer City just before the advent of the Great Depression in 1928. In 1988, First National Bank changed its name to Pioneer American Bank. Pioneer American Bank renovated the lobby of the main office in Carbondale in 1990. In 2000, NBT Bank acquired LA Bank and Pioneer American Bank and formed Pennstar Bank. In March 2014, Pennstar Bank began operating as NBT Bank.
